From our results we have found that the age range responses from our questionnaire are predominantly 20-29 year olds. Interestingly they most enjoy expository documentaries aired on BBC. From this we have found our main target audience however our chosen topic lends itself towards being interesting to a wide range of people. This helps us to understand what our target audience wants and how we can appeal to them. Through this we are able to specifically focus on our subject and adapting it towards this genre. We can see that our audiences like to watch expository documentaries such as ‘9/11 uncovered’ this type of documentary has many similar links with our chosen topic, the London riots. The target audience prefer to be informed rather than entertained however a slight balance needs to be found between the two. The documentary will be attractive to our target audience through there feedback , we will try to make our documentary as aesthetically pleasing as possible.
Focus Group
Using focus groups was particularly helpful, it provides us with both relevant opinions and data as apposed to a questionnaire that only offers us data. These voice clips help us to understand what our target audience would like to see in our documentary by askling two seperate focus groups for their response. Thier responses where mixed however they gave us some detailed input and relevant material. Through this feedback we have now become more focused on our particular documentary and how we can edit it appropriately for our audience. Due to the feedback we have now slightly adjusted howe we present the documentary including the use of facts and balance between facts and entertainment.
